At OakPaperPress, we recognize that plans may change, and we are dedicated to having transparent and equitable refund practices. This document provides the circumstances in which refunds might be given for our yacht charter offerings.
Review these guidelines thoroughly before confirming a reservation. By reserving a charter with OakPaperPress, you are consenting to these refund conditions.
Standard Cancellation and Refund Schedule
More than 72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Complete refund minus any handling fees
Processing Time: 5-7 business days
Handling Fee: €50 for card payments
Conditions: Needs to be requested via written correspondence such as email or phone
24-72 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Half of the overall charter cost
Processing Time: 7-10 business days
Handling Fee: €25 subtracted from the refund
Conditions: A legitimate reason is required; operational costs apply
Less than 24 Hours Before Charter
Eligible for: Refunds are not available
Exception: Exceptional circumstances could be taken into account
Alternative: A voucher for future charters may be given at the discretion of the management
Conditions: Supporting evidence required for emergency claims
Weather-Related Cancellations
Our Weather Guarantee
Your safety is our highest concern. In cases where unsafe weather conditions for yacht operations are determined by our licensed captain, we offer accommodating solutions:
- Full Refund: Provided when rescheduling isn’t possible
- Reschedule: Transfer your booking to an alternative date without extra costs
- Charter Credit: Issue a credit that's valid for one year from the initial date of the charter
Weather Assessment Process
Our procession for weather assessments includes:
- Evaluation of wind velocity and patterns
- Assessment of ocean conditions and swell heights
- Forecasts of visibility and rainfall
- Maritime alerts and notifications from the Coast Guard
- Assessment by a professional captain's pertaining to safety
Decision Timeline: Decisions on weather-related cancellations are rendered at least four hours ahead of the planned departure time.
Medical Emergency Refunds
Emergency Conditions
Medical emergencies are unforeseen matters. The situations below may be considered for extraordinary considerations:
- Sudden medical conditions or incidents requiring hospital admission
- Passing of immediate family member
- Military duties or sudden recall
- Mandated court presence or jury service
- Major natural events disrupting travel plans
Needed Documentation
For processing requests for refunds due to medical emergencies, please submit:
- Health certificate or documentation from a hospital
- Death certificate where relevant
- Official military mandates
- Notice of court summons or jury duty
- Travel cautions or declarations of emergency
Processing: Refunds for emergencies are processed within 3-5 business days once the proper papers are received.
Operational Cancellations
Mechanical Problems
In the event of mechanical issues with the designated vessel that can’t be resolved:
- Replacement Yacht: We’ll strive to secure a comparable substitute
- Complete Refund: If no alternative is feasible
- Partial Refund: If the replacement vessel has differing rates
- Compensation: We may offer additional recompense for any inconvenience
Unavailability of Crew
If there are occasions when no certified crew is available:
- Substitute crew will be sourced if possible
- Full refund will be given if the charter cannot go ahead
- Opportunity to reschedule without additional costs
Refund Processing
Refund Methods
Refunds will be issued back to the original payment method utilized:
- Card Transactions: 5-7 business days
- Bank Transfers: 7-10 business days
- Cash/Cheque: Within 3-5 business days
Handling Fees
Card Payment Handling
€50 charge for cancellations communicated more than 72 hours in advance
Bank Transfer Handling
€25 charge for all refunds via bank transfer
Overseas Handling
Extra charges may be incurred for international payments
Charter Credits
When Credits are Issued
Credits for charters may be provided as a substitute for reimbursements under certain situations:
- Untimely cancellations (under 24 hours notice)
- Cancellations due to weather
- Voluntary rescheduling by the client
- Operational hindrances or disturbances
Credit Specifications
- Valid for: 12 months post-issuance
- Non-transferable: Cannot be assigned to other parties
- Value: Reflects the total value of the charter without handling fees
- Applicability: Usable on any available future charter
- Expiry: Cannot be extended beyond the 12 month period
Partial Service Reimbursements
Interruptions in Service
In the case where your charter is disrupted or shortened because of conditions we can control:
- Refund proportional to the unutilized duration
- Credit for an equal value future charter
- Complimentary additional services or upgrades
Disruptions Caused by Guests
If a charter ends ahead of schedule due to actions or safety breaches by guests:
- No reimbursement for the remaining duration
- Full payment still required
- Potential additional fees
Handling Disagreements
In the instance of a dispute over a refund decision, steps you may take include:
- Ask for a reassessment from our management
- Supply extra details or verification
- Contact consumer protection agencies for assistance
- Use legal options as enabled under the governing law

Second Step: Provide Necessary Details
Make sure your request includes:
- Your confirmed reservation number
- The planned charter date and time
- The reason for the cancellation
- Any supporting files if required
- How you would prefer your reimbursement
Third Step: Our Review and Response
After receiving your request, we will acknowledge it in 24 hours, evaluate it in compliance with these guidelines, arrive at a decision within 48 hours, and proceed with refund processing in the indicated timeframes.
